Seeking Executive Director
for Greenbank Mills & Philips Farm
Greenbank Mill Associates, Inc. is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to preserving the Greenbank Mill National Historic District as a public museum, and expanding public knowledge of Red Clay Valley industrial, agricultural, and social history through on-site educational and recreational programming. A living history museum near Wilmington, Delaware, conducting tours and programs focusing on a variety of aspects of the Early Republic (1790-1830): the gristmill, the textile factory, and daily life at the 1794 Philips House and 19th century farm with heritage sheep.
ORGANIZATIONAL MANAGEMENT AND OVERSIGHT
Manage and maintain facilities: gristmill, textile mill, house, and barn. Oversee restoration of gristmill equipment with the goal of again grinding grain. Plan and oversee future sawmill re-creation.
Manage heritage livestock program. Oversee maintenance of heirloom gardens.
Manage staff, volunteers, interns, and community partnerships.
FUNDRAISING AND FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT
Oversee fundraising planning and implementation.
Oversee budget development and manage financial resources responsibly.
PROGRAMMING, EDUCATION, AND COMMUNITY RELATIONS
Oversee interpretation of the site appropriate to the Early Republic (1790-1830). Continue to offer established programs and to develop new ones.
Represent Greenbank at public functions and meetings.
QUALIFICATIONS
Masters Degree in history or museum studies.
Two years practical experience in the museum field. Living history experience.
Knowledgeable in 19th century social, industrial, and agricultural history.
Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to write grant applications.
Knowledge of PastPerfect or other museum management software.
Milling and livestock experience a plus.
